Welcome to the second grade! Our days are full with so many wonderful activities. Our daily Reader's Workshop helps us develop important skills to become successful, independent readers. The March Reading Challenge has reinforced these skills and helped us get even more excited about the great books in our library and in our classrooms. We also work hard at Word Study-phonics, spelling, and vocabulary work-which helps both our reading and writing skills.
Our current writing project involves creating original fairytales and stories with animal characters. We love to share and celebrate our stories when they are completed.
During Math Workshop we have been learning about ration relationships and pattern sequences. It's a lot of work but we are learning so much!
Our music, art, and gym classes provide more fun opportunities to strengthen our minds, bodies, and interests. All-School Sing is a terrific weekly event for our class. We have loved doing our laps over this winter period. These and other second grade activities keep us happy and on-the-go.
