Newsletter #23
Dear Parents -
We had a great twenty-third (23rd) school week. I think we’re ready for this last week before vacation. The Personal Culture unit is coming to a close and I continue to see evidence of family stories, family trees, country maps, and flags. The unit ends this Friday. We all loved Omei’s Oatmeal Candy!
Our math unit, Measuring Polygons, is going strong - this week we’re working on polygon designs.
The Literature Groups continue to be viable. The kids seem to like the small settings. I’m enjoying my group with the book, Freak, the Mighty.
About seven of you consistently send back the signed independent reading logs for your children. I’d like that number to go up if possible. Reading at home will certainly help our reading efforts here at school.
Some parents have been e-mailing me regularly to be informed about their kids’ progress. Everyone is welcome to do that.
This coming Wednesday we will be going to the Kipling Theater to see The Lightning Thief. I still don’t have all of the permission slips.
After break we will Start the Colonies and Revolutionary War unit.
Mark your calendars - on March 17 we will go to the NEYT to see The Legend of Sleepy Hollow. More will be coming on that later. Take Care.
Best
